Meet Your Hosts — Becs & Iain
We’re Becs and Iain, and Kawakawa Station is our home. We bought the station in 2019, but our connection to this land goes back much further. In his younger days, Iain spent time here working on a cray boat and helping out on the farm. When close friends owned the station, he got to know just how special this place was, so when the chance came up to buy it, we jumped at it.
To be honest, we probably had rose-tinted glasses on at the time. The enormity of the project hit us pretty quickly — but with the help of amazing family and friends, plenty of sleeves rolled up, and more than a few late nights, we made it work, and we think we’ve created something pretty special. A number of years on, we’re still blown away by the beauty of this land every time we explore it.
For us, Kawakawa Station isn’t just a farm — it’s the place our kids grew up, wild and free, with the bush, the river, and the coast as their playground. It’s also a place we’re passionate about sharing. We’ve always been keen on hospitality, and the idea of welcoming people here, feeding them well, and giving them a taste of station life just felt right.
These big, rugged farms aren’t easy to keep, but rugged often equals beautiful, and a private farm walk is the perfect way to celebrate that. Mother Nature created the magic here; we’ve just added the frilly bits. The Kawakawa Station Walk is our way of opening the gate, letting people in, and sharing a real slice of grassroots New Zealand.
We can’t wait to welcome you.
