— Our Story —

One of South Wairarapa’s most awe-inspiring location sets the scene for your adventure. From the limitless views across the Cook Strait and out to Kaikoura and beyond, to the majestic high country and sweeping rugged coastline of Cape Palliser, Kawakawa Station is an unforgettable experience.

Established 1919

The iconic Kawakawa Station is one of the Wairarapa’s oldest Sheep Stations. Located along the South Wairarapa coastline with sweeping views across to the South Island, Kawakawa Station is 40 minutes from the bustling wine village of Martinborough, yet it truly feels another world away.

Our spectacular three-day walk offers breath-taking views of the rugged natural landscape of New Zealand high country, native bushland, a spectacular coastline, streams and crystal-clear braided rivers, all set amongst our working sheep station. The walk is fully catered with comfortable lodgings that are unique to Kawakawa Station, and all have their own story to tell. For more details check out our Station Walk page.
